Cardboard Engineering in a Commercial Environment
We have a large number of visitors to our site who look for information regarding paper and cardboard engineering. To help them understand our involvement in this area we have showcased several products which are designed using very specific cardboard engineering techniques. Whilst we always hope that a site visit will lead to a sale, we always try to make our websites as informative as possible for the visitor whose search is solely for knowledge and it is for that reason that we explain much about cardboard engineering in a commercial environment.
As for the actual cardboard engineering techniques used in the manufacture of our products, there is one phrase that you will see repeatedly and that is “V fold”. The simple V fold is at the heart of many pop-up products and is not confined to pop-up cards as many might think. For example, the impressive display that is revealed by the Starburst fold is based on V folds. Take a look at some 3D automatic pop-ups such as the cubes, boxes and pyramids and you will find that it is a V fold mechanism that allows them to fold flat before jumping to life thanks to the internal rubber band. The “fun folds” section on the website shows other, more obvious, examples with the “open mouth” in particular showing off two V folds to great advantage.
